Cathartic Pictures is working with producer Tony Ginnane and director Mark Hartley on thriller feature The Girl at the Window, starring Radha Mitchell, Ella Newton and Vince Colosimo. Cathartic’s Cathy Rodda jumps on board as line producer, Maz Komba on a producer placement, and Naomi Ball for social media content.

Described by Tony as a blend of Rear Window and Disturbia, the film is a female-led, taut thriller, about a mother and daughter dealing with an ambiguous and uncertain threat that binds them closer together.

Director Mark says the film boasts a strong, resourceful heroine and a bounty of exciting set pieces.

“It’s exactly the breed of film that I love. I’m extremely fortunate to be working with a supremely talented cast and many of my favourite crewmembers to bring this high-stakes cat-and-mouse thriller to life,” Mark says.

Cathy says the production has been fortunate to shoot through lockdown.

“We’re in our own little bubble, filming in a warehouse-studio and with limited locations. We have a great crew who are pro at following the strict COVID Safe guidelines,” she says.

The film received production investment from Film Victoria and will be released in Australia by new domestic distributor Kismet, headed by Troy Lum, previously CEO of eOne in Australia. International sales agent Blue Fox Entertainment has already sold the film to key territories including USA, UK, South Africa, Indonesia, CIS and the Middle East. The film will release worldwide in mid-2022.
